• Other retail partners. Where applicable we link to Chewy and direct-to-consumer brands through their respective affiliate programs.

The actual numbers

We would rather you knew the arithmetic than trusted a boilerplate sentence. Under Amazon's published fee schedule, pet products earn us about 3% of the purchase price. Every supplement we compare pays us that same rate — Dasuquin earns us no more than Cosequin, and neither earns us more than the cheaper alternatives — so our rankings cannot be explained by our commissions. Prescription medication earns us nothing at all, and a veterinary consult earns us nothing: when our articles say a visibly painful dog needs an analgesia conversation with a vet rather than a supplement, we are recommending against our own revenue. So is every "buy nothing" option we lead with, and we lead with one wherever it honestly exists.

How affiliate links affect rankings

They don't. Commission rates and the existence of an affiliate program have no influence on which products we test, how we score them, or how we rank them. If a product fails our testing, it doesn't make the list — regardless of how lucrative its affiliate program might be.

Imagery and image sourcing

To be unambiguous: most lifestyle and editorial photography on this site is licensed from Pexels, a royalty-free stock photography platform. Pexels images depict generic dogs, environments, and situations — they are not photographs of the specific dogs or products we write about. Every Pexels image is captioned with the photographer's credit and a link to their profile.

Product photographs (specific orthopedic beds, supplements, harnesses) are pulled from Amazon via the Amazon Creators API and are used under the program's license. A Pexels photo is never evidence of anything we claim in the text — it is illustrative, and where we describe hands-on testing, the protocol and its limits are set out at how we test beds. That protocol covers beds and only beds; we do not claim hands-on testing anywhere else.
