Independence

Dog Orthopedic does not accept paid placements, sponsored reviews, or any form of consideration in exchange for inclusion in a list, ranking, or recommendation. Brands cannot buy their way onto our pages.

How we choose products

We start with the products owners are actually buying — derived from search trends, retailer best-seller lists, and reader requests. From there we test in-house under real dogs for at least four weeks per product. Scoring rubrics are published on each buying guide.

Sourcing and citations

Every clinical claim cites peer-reviewed literature (PubMed, JAVMA, AAHA guidelines) or named expert sources. We do not cite blog posts as primary evidence. When the research is mixed or weak, we say so.

Veterinary review

We do not currently have a veterinary reviewer. Every medical article is tagged “vet review pending,” and that tag is accurate rather than decorative. When the program is running, reviewer names and credentials will appear at the top of each reviewed article, added per-article as the reviews are completed. Until then, the check we offer is a source on every clinical claim and a public corrections log. See Our Vet Reviewers.

When we link to a product we may earn a commission. These links are marked and disclosed in line with FTC guidelines. Commission rates do not influence rankings. See our full disclosure.

Corrections

If you find a factual error, write to us. We correct mistakes promptly, note the correction at the bottom of the article, and update the "Last updated" timestamp.

Imagery and stock photography

The vast majority of lifestyle and editorial photography on this site comes from Pexels, a royalty-free photography platform. Pexels images are used to illustrate conditions, breeds, environments, and general dog-care contexts — they are not photographs of the specific dogs, products, or test sessions we describe.

Each Pexels image carries a visible photo-credit caption with the photographer's name and a link to their Pexels profile. Photographs of specific products (orthopedic beds, supplements, harnesses) come from the manufacturers via the Amazon Creators API and are used under the program's license. We do not present stock photography as evidence of testing; testing notes describe what we observed in our own home, separately from the imagery on the page.
